Maryam Phillips
Executive Director
Maryam has more than 40 years of experience in public library administration. Even before getting her first library card at the age of three, the value of libraries was instilled in her during her weekly trips to the local library. After earning her MLS from Drexel University, Maryam’s career has included positions in Pennsylvania libraries on the local and county levels. Joining HSLC as Executive Director in 2013, she embraced the opportunity to further impact library services and programs on a statewide level. As a librarian who watched the growth of the internet and development of integrated library systems, she believes technology needs to work for librarians, not the other way around. HSLC’s mission to offer technology solutions to libraries is intrinsic to her career path and values.
Vincent Mariner
Deputy Director
Vince has more than 25 years’ experience working in multi-type library cooperative environments. He initially joined HSLC in 2006 to launch the Chat with a Librarian (formerly Ask Here PA) service for POWER Library, having previously worked as the coordinator of the same statewide provided service in Florida. As Deputy Director and Director of Network Services, he provides leadership support, manages services, and coordinates other activities that support HSLC’s efforts to serve libraries in PA and beyond. He has extensive experience with grants management, working with vendors, providing staff training, and many other aspects of organizational leadership. Vince holds a Master of Library Science degree from Florida State University.
Tracy Carey
User Experience Specialist
Library Services Team
As HSLC’s User Experience Specialist, Tracy ensures an optimal information resource experience for library staff and users with her over 25 years of public library experience. She focuses on customer service, training, and assessment to address library challenges. Tracy holds degrees in Business Administration and Library Science, with additional certification in User Experience for Libraries.
Charmain Eubanks-Thomas

When Charmain joined HSLC in 2018, she brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Charmain is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, as well as handling the company’s regulatory requirements of the city, state, and federal governments. Her commitment to the company’s mission is evident in the innovative ideas she presents. Charmain is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Brandell Griffin
Network Administrator
Network Services Team
Starting his career in the Army National Guard, Brandell has over a decade of experience in the IT field, including positions in Help Desk, IT Support , and Network Administration. His certifications include CCNA, ISC2 CC, and more. As Network Administrator, Brandell oversees the network infrastructure to ensure HSLC remains operational while embracing the principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Erin Halovanic
Director of Library Services

Erin manages the team responsible for client-facing services. With an extensive experience in the library profession across various roles and environments, she is passionate about strategic planning, capacity building, and forming partnerships to support library services. Erin holds an MLS from Indiana University, an MEd from Wright State University, and an MPA from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Joshua Hrycek
Systems Administrator
Network Services Team
With over seven years of IT experience, Josh is skilled in Linux, IT automation, and systems engineering, focusing on supporting the public library sector. As a Systems Administrator, he has worked on key projects like implementing new e-resources, supporting our Single Sign-On system, introducing automation solutions, and improving our Customer Relationship Management system.
Nicole Joniec
Digital Collections Specialist
Library Services Team
Nicole manages the Pennsylvania Photos & Documents repository, the SCAN PA program, and supports digital collection development. With over a decade of experience in special collections libraries, she is a certified Project Management Professional and Digital Archives Specialist with interests in digital curation, preservation, and outreach. Nicole holds an MSLIS from Drexel University.
Jennifer Malik-Williams
Digital Outreach Specialist

Jenn is responsible for the production and maintenance of the social media profiles for both HSLC and POWER Library. She designs and creates digital and print marketing materials, managing both the HSLC and POWER Library branding. Prior to joining HSLC, Jenn served as the marketing coordinator for a public library system, and worked for other non-profit organizations as well as in corporate environments.
Mary Lynn Morris Kennedy
Electronic Resources Specialist

AS HSLC’s Electronic Resources Specialist, Mary Lynn provides technical and customer support for POWER E-Resources. Her academic and public library background includes cataloging, electronic resources, instruction, and public services and informs her ongoing support of our clients and their users as they use the POWER E-Resources. Mary Lynn holds an MS in Information Studies from Drexel University.
Yardell Perkins
Web Developer

Yardell serves as the HSLC network services web developer who specializes in the design and development of WordPress websites. He transitioned from being a network administrator for a non-profit to running his own business successfully before joining HSLC. Now he strives to support the organization as best as he can with not only his technical expertise, but entrepreneurial acumen.
Daniel Sanford
Systems Engineer

Daniel oversees the planning, development, and maintenance of HSLC’s front and backend technology services. His extensive background in academic libraries includes positions in both Library Science and Information Technology. He also has experience teaching a range of technology subjects including digitization and system architecture. Daniel holds a MLS and a MS degree.
Marjorie Sommerville
Administrative Assistant
Administration
As HSLC’s Administrative Assistant, Marjorie provides support to a professional staff of thirteen. In addition, she assists POWER Library and Access PA project participants, as well as other HSLC clients with any efforts to advance the organization’s mission. Marjorie has been vital in supporting HSLC staff and clients for more than thirty years and also serves as the unofficial company historian.
Edward Wolf
Virtual Reference & Information Specialist
Library Services Team
Ed coordinates the statewide Chat with a Librarian virtual reference service, maintains various websites and conducts virtual and in-person trainings. He specializes in instructional and general reference, crafting user-centric and accessible information literacy programs. Ed holds degrees in English Literature, History, and Anthropology, as well as a MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh.
